Dr. Friedman earned her B.A. at the University of Chicago and her M.D. from the University of Illinois, Chicago. She completed a rotating internship at St. Joseph Hospital, and a psychiatry residency at the Psychiatric and Psychosomatic Institute at Michael Reese Hospital. Before attending medical school, she also earned an M.S.W. in Social Work from the University of Chicago. At UCSF and the University of Chicago, she has taught in areas of Psychiatry, Family Medicine, and Sexuality. A certified group psychotherapist, Dr. Friedman has led workshops for individuals and organizations. Dr. Friedman is also certified in preventive medicine.  She is a member of the California Medical Association and the

San Francisco Marin Medical Society.
